48 hours in Manchester

Recently I took a trip down to Manchester with Boux Avenue to meet the team, learn about the product and have a sneak peak at some new season lingerie (you can read all about how I became an ambassador in my last post here).
I've not been to Manchester since I was about 6 and used to go with my family to watch Manchester United matches so it was lovely to go back and experience more of the city. As soon as I stepped off the train into the city centre I fell in love again, the red brick and gothic architecture mixed in with sleek glass skyscrapers is completely breathtaking.
I took Ronan, my boyfriend, down with me so we could spend a couple of days relaxing especially after he'd just been on tour around Scotland with his latest theatre show.
We decided to stay at The King Street Townhouse, this was primarily down to the swimming pool - a rooftop infinity pool looking over the rooftops of Manchester, stunning. The whole hotel was completely faultless with a super kingsize bed, waterfall shower and stunning decor. We spent the evening before I headed to the Boux Avenue event relaxing in the pool with a glass of champagne - very, very special - the staff really went above an beyond to make sure the stay was enjoyable and luxurious for us.

After settling in we decided to wander into town for a mooch around the shops and a bite to eat, and let me tell you the shopping in Manchester is INSANE, I would say its very comparable to London so if you need to do some Christmas shopping this year try Manchester! I had a looong browse around Selfridges, especially the Louboutin section... before Ronan pulled me away before heading to the Fenty beauty counter in Harvey Nichols where I was very good and managed to restrain myself from making any purchases! We then saw a Taco Bell - I had no idea we have them in the UK?! So we stopped for some Tacos and Nachos, a serious USA throwback. I also had a wander around the Manchester Arndale shopping centre stopping at Kurt Geiger to check out some shoes we didn't have in the Aberdeen store and I seriously fell in love with a pair of boots - oops!
Then we headed back to the hotel so I could get ready for the Boux Avenue event, I wore the Tanya satin teddy in silver with a pair of Topshop pearl embellished jeans - smart casual. The event was so lovely - we had pink sparkly prosecco, rainbow cake and other nibbles before having a talk from Boux Avenues head of Marketing and Sarah Cant - last years winning Boux Ambassador. Then we got to have a look at some new pieces for next season - my fave was this black velvet set, so perfect for cosy winter nights. After meeting some of the other lovely girls including Antonia who I'd spoken to a couple of times previously on Instagram - always lovely to put a face to a name - We received boux goody bags and went on our way.
I met Ronan at The Alchemist, a bar that specialises in science based cocktails using dry ice, strange ingredients - seriously one had fairy liquid in it?! - and colour changing alcohols. Hands down one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to - and I'm a cocktail fanatic, I highly recommend you check this place out. I had 'The colour changing one' which changed from clear, to blue then red whilst overflowing with smoke during the process and even tasted really good, almost like a more sour vodka lemonade and I also had the 'Key lime pie' which was to die for a gorgeous thick lime based drink with a swirl of foamy meringue on top - an sweet tooths dream.
Then we headed back to the hotel and I relaxed with a glass of Rosè, a Lush bath bomb and a book - I didn't read much of the book admittedly because I was a little tipsy at this point... The simple pleasure of having a deep, hot bath when you only have a shower at home is what I live for. I then had the best sleep ever in the huge bed and my new Tabitha teddy.
The next day we went for another sunrise dip in the pool before checking out and having a last wander around Manchester. We went to Moose Coffee for the most delicious breakfast - seriously brunch is the best meal of the day! I had french toast with candied bacon and fresh berries, I'm salivating reliving this... Then we took a last stroll around the winding streets of Manchester before heading back to Aberdeen where Ronan surprised me with one of the Fenty beauty highlighters that I'd been lusting over but restrained myself from getting - hero.
