LIVING for the living room

So as most of you will be aware I recently moved into a new flat in Aberdeen, it took what seemed like forever to find the perfect flat, especially after my last one had bad damp problems and was right behind a noisy bar - ground floor flats behind pubs don't mix learn from my mistakes!
I finally found the most beautiful modern flat located between Union Square shopping centre and the River Dee. The complex itself is an old building which has been renovated into several compact, modern flats. The landlord is an absolute dream and even gifted me Prosecco and chocolates on move in day as well as a hamper with cleaning products which is always useful!

The living room in the flat is my favorouite room, its large with a beautiful bay window, and came furnished with clean white furniture which made it very easy to decorate to my own personal taste.

Below is a picture of the living room when I first moved in...

I wasn't the biggest fan of all the green tones in the flat, so I switched the green velvet cushions out for some pink Mongolian fur ones from Matalan which match beautifully with the grey crushed velvet cushions which were already there. I also changed the metal sculpture on the coffee table for a trio of candles from IKEA which pick out the key colours of the room.
On the side table I used some coffee table books in pink and white tones to continue to carry through the colour scheme 'This Modern Love' and 'How to be Parisian' are two of my faves - check them out. I also have the marble and copper coaster from Oliver Bonas which I got for my Birthday which adds more texture and interest to the table.
The windowsill is decorated with a cinema lightbox, which adds a quirky twist to the decor as well as two grey toned vases from Next which add another dimension to the windowsill.
Lastly I have this large ornate mirror which I managed to get for a complete bargain from Gumtree, however I'm currently on the hunt for a put plant or some prints to place beside it to distract from the radiator and balance the white space. However I may also place my desk there as I need something to cover the wires and plugs which lead from the TV - I just don't want the room to be too busy.

I'll keep the blog updated on any interior changes I make as well as focussing on other rooms within the flat. I couldn't be happier with how clean the flat is, as I'm the first person to live in it and how quiet the whole area is.
