London Fashion Weekend - A glimpse

As part of my Fashion Management course at University I was given the opportunity, to head down to London for a few days to experience London Fashion week. I thought I'd share here some of the outfits I wore on the trip, what I ate and of course the low down on my experience of LFW, enjoy...

Day 1.
Wednesday 24th February - The trip started with a brutal 4am start, as I had to finish packing, do some last minute ironing and of course make myself look presentable. I then headed to Aberdeen airport with some friends to catch our flight down to London. We arrived at our hotel, the Royal National, unpacked and then got ready for a day of exploring the fashion flagship stores of London. We began with a wander around Covent Garden, exploring places such as Ladurèe, Brandy Melville and the Charlotte Tilbury flagship. We then hit up Oxford street, beginning with a wander around Selfridges and sipping on cocktails on their rooftop terrace. Then we walked further down Oxford street and looked around Topshop before moving on to Victoria's Secret. After a long day of exploring we arrived back at the hotel, bought some snacks from Tesco and passed out.

Day 2.
Thursday 25th February - Today was the day of our first fashion show, we started the day with brunch at Kopapa in Covent Garden where I had the most dreamy Banana spiced french toast with bacon and maple syrup. We then went back over to Topshop to have another look around because that store is huge. Then went back to Selfridges to pick up a few bits and bobs before catching the tube over to Chelsea to arrive at London Fashion Weekend. We had lunch at Gallery Mess, a lovely little restaurant next to the Saatchi gallery, they had a LFW set menu so I thought it was only fitting to order from that menu. I had a Lamb croquette with pomegranate and lemon preserve and shallot puree, then Ling fish with steamed mussels and cauliflower and all washed down with a delightful Bellini. After lunch we headed next door to the Saatchi gallery to explore the work of some new designers and watch the all important fashion show. Toni and Guy had a section there where they were demonstrating hair styles they did on the catwalk at LFW on people, so of course I decided to try out a new hair style with a punk edge. After this we went back to the hotel and freshened up before heading to Carnaby for something to eat and drink. We visited Zebrano, a nightclub/restaurant hybrid where there was a dancefloor and constant tunes blasting, a very interesting and enjoyable experience - especially when all the music is cheesy pop.

Day 3.
Friday 26th February - The final day - boo! The day began with a half an hour wait queuing to get into The Breakfast club, and boy, oh boy was it worth it! Dreamy berry pancakes with vanilla whipped cream, drizzled with maple syrup and a chocolate milkshake - I was on holiday I'm allowed to indulge!! Next up was a wander around Brick Lane, taking in all the street art, having a mooch around Rough Trade - an amazing music store - and sampling gourmet doughnuts from Dum Dum Donutterie - legit so good that I ate them so fast I forgot to take a picture! Before we left brick lane to collect our bags from the hotel we had a quick look at the Gherkin which looked particularly impressive up close. Lastly we got the tube to Heathrow to board our flight back to Aberdeen. The shopping in Heathrow Terminal 5 was pretty special with designers such as Chanel, Dior and Tiffany's, food from Gordon Ramsey and Fortnum and Mason and of course tax free make up which is always a strong temptation for myself...
